“How I didn't become a dancer” tells the story of the Danish punk and hardcore scene from 1978 to 1988, and how Kent Nielsen experienced that time. A story of unbridled creativity, rebellion, violence, addiction, and growing up the hard way. In search of an antidote to the bleakness of provincial life on the Danish Baltic Sea coast, Kent found refuge in Odense, the country's third-largest city, with its then-growing punk rock community. This was followed by his first forays as a frontman in various punk and no-wave bands, including the band L.U.L.L., who released two influential albums in the European hardcore scene in the late eighties with “The Highest Wall” and “Freakline.”

Kent experienced ten years that shaped him forever, as they did all the others who were part of this punk and squatting scene. It's astonishing how many bands, fanzines, concerts, happenings, etc. developed in this small, supposedly cozy country back then...
