The book "Raketen in Rock" contains 33 1/3 record reviews that deal with promising personal ads, women who are out of one's league, conventional poor-man's sex, Satan, and sometimes even records. It's coupled with the realization that a record isn't necessarily good when a band delivers one hit after another, but rather takes on something magical precisely when, for example, you sink your cucumber while it's playing. "Raketen in Rock" presents experiences with LPs or their artists, memories of a carefree youth, episodes with strange women and broken guys - a chronicle of daily roof damage that suddenly turns even the most mundane crap into a favorite record. Because even if the majority of the rock highlights presented here deserve their place on Olympus, the primary point is that it's not the record, but rather the life around it, that still writes rock history.

The Author

Tom Tonk, born in 1965, spent a large part of his life in front of large, black loudspeakers. Over the years, he has acquired a depth of knowledge through countless studies and self-experiments that could not be more comprehensive or truthful. Combined with the best music taste ever, this concentrated expertise qualifies a rock pope for a great deal, perhaps even for this book. Furthermore, his excellence is known as a good eater and a great understander of women, which doesn't necessarily speak against him. His hobbies are walking and stopping, when he's not nibbling at his meager midday meal in front of large, black loudspeakers and understanding women. Tom Tonk is not the kind of man who simply changes his favorite color; rather, in these and other matters, he displays a healthy stubbornness that one wouldn't necessarily expect from such a young whippersnapper. If all goes well, he will even reach that age eventually.
