Who or what is Billy Barfly? A person? A band? Both! The busy guy from Lake Constance presents his one-man combo here. Guitar, bass, vocals, drums, etc. - everything was recorded/sung by one person.
Personally, the whole thing always reminds me very much of the divine fish heads of Eight Balls - although they, of course, remain unsurpassed. Both musically (classic 90s Oi! Punk without fear of related excursions; especially Rock'n'Roll) and lyrically...
With a lot of (self-)irony, they celebrate themselves and, of course (something new!), the ladies, the cult, and drunkenness! In addition, there's a bit of nostalgic looking back at "the good old days" and past loves...
Besides 7 original songs, there are also 3 cover songs by Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran, and Die Hosen - Apropos Düsseldorf: sometimes it also reminds you of older 4 Promille stuff...
Despite two name changes (Grandmaster Jay & Ratzkahl), this tape is already the 5th release. And that in just 3 years!!!
Although a steady improvement cannot be denied, there are also a variety of hits on the older releases. Definitely check it out: https://billy-barfly.jimdosite.com/discographie/
