"Mind the Gap" is a special fanzine that appears once a year and has established a firm place in the Hamburg scene. Under the direction of Gierfisch and Der Captain, the fanzine delves deep into the local cosmos, presenting a colorful mix of interviews with scene veterans, ranging from church to prison, many of whom are known from radio and television.

The creators of the fanzine are not limited to Hamburg; they look beyond the city's borders and also address sensitive topics such as former neo-Nazis.

Particularly outstanding is the personal depth offered by the interviews. The encounters with the interviewees are characterized by authentic conversations that go far beyond superficial questions. In contrast, however, there are also the interview with AKTIVE NOTWEHR conducted by Niko Brill, and the interview with THE ROXIES conducted by Eugen Honold, which lack depth.

Der Captain, always with a mischievous smile, provides the obligatory photos, in which the current issue of the fanzine, of course, must not be missing.

However, there are also points of criticism: Since "Mind the Gap" is only published once a year, festival reports and sound carrier reviews often lose their topicality. This fact, however, does not diminish the value of the well-researched and in-depth interviews with Tommy Molotow, Sebastian Krumbiegel, Annette Benjamin, and Ingo Naujoks, which make the fanzine an indispensable part of the scene.

Overall impression:

Overall, "Mind the Gap" offers an exciting insight into the subculture and, despite its annual publication, is a worthwhile read for anyone interested primarily in the Hamburg music and cultural scene. And perhaps Gierfisch and Der Captain should focus exclusively on that.
